Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a process of developing awareness about ourselves: our thoughts and behaviours, feelings and moods, and how we interact in the world. It helps us to boost our sense of self-efficacy and supports us to respond to challenging life situations with healthy coping skills.
Dramatherapy
Dramatherapy is a unique form of psychotherapy in which creativity, play, movement, voice, storytelling, dramatization and the performance arts have a central position within the therapeutic relationship. (HCPC (UK) Standards of Proficiency, 2012, pg.15).
As a form of psychotherapy it is used during intentional intervention with children, adults and groups in therapeutic, rehabilitative, community or educational settings. As an arts therapy, dramatherapy facilitates the integration of psychological, physical and social functioning and hence promotes self-development, enhances self-awareness and facilitates change.
