In the field of business, I have worked in culture and the arts, tourism and financial sevices sector, as a freelancer, business owner and talent manager. Within the health sector, I focused on the area of substance abuse as experienced by the individuals and their families. In the educational sector I worked in a school as the school counsellor and pastoral care co-ordinator where I focused on nurturing children’s social and emotional learning as a manner of increasing their awareness in the here and now with the aim of enabling them to make proactive choices in their lives.
I have a keen interest in awareness of both self and others as the basis for development and realisation of our potential as human beings. Awareness helps us to identify how our thoughts, feelings and beliefs support or interrupt our ability to become all that we can be and I am particularly interested in understanding how our sense of self-efficacy and confidence influences this unfolding of our selves throughout our lives.

I work in a secondary school as a Support Teacher and SEBD Specialist. My work consists in addressing needs of young people to help improve their overall wellbeing and their academic experience. I intervene both inside and outside classroom settings, with individuals and groups. My work includes the assessment of students presenting challenging behaviour as well as interventions concerning psychoeducation, anger management, self-regulation training and social emotional learning.
Through using positive discipline as an approach, students are encouraged to behave in a prosocial manner and be active participants in their education. I hold the view that learning can be a therapeutic experience for students and so, I work with students and with the educational community to optimise students' learning potential. This involves work directed towards building students' competencies and liaison with the educational community in implementing strategies to achieve the desired goals.
